I keep a betta in a 2.5 gallon tank and he does just fine, very active especially after his water changes! they do well with most fish (but avoid fin nippers like tiger barbs of course) Mine has a mystery snail in with him for company
![]() http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4642/1000821ii.jpg mine is a fairly plain white, but he's very active and diligent in patrolling his perimeter, keeping his snaily subject in line and making sure those pesky air bubbles on the sides of the tank after his water change are vanquished ![]() |

Hmmmm........Never been a Betta fan but wondering about this Biorb of mine, would a Betta work in one of those? I'm struggling a bit to decide what, if anything, to do with it

Bettas are advertised as being able to live in a "confined space", and able to live at "room temperature" etc. etc. depending on which LFS you go to . . .
But I don't think that's true . . . ![]() They deserve as much space as any of our other finned friends do, as well as having relief from excess NH3 and cold temps! All best, Joe ![]() |

after seeing the cups that the LFS have their betta's in I think a 8 gal tank would be a whole wide world to them. I used to have a breeding pair in a community tank with a really off the wall community tank, and they did really well and actually had 4 sets of fry. So Min you could do a betta and some shrimp or even mountain minnows for flash, ambient room temp would not be bad for a betta unless oyu like it cold in your house like I do...ambient room temp right now is 66*F...lol....

Thanks for that Ratty
![]() I have to say I'm not a huge fan of these orbs, they look pretty neat but I hate the rocky substrate that has to be used because of the filter system. I have wondered if large pea type gravel might work instead. The lighting is pretty concentrated in the middle of the tank too so I'm looking into the tiny LED lights that can be positioned under the water. The center decorations they use over the filter also block a huge portion of the orb from view but if the tube was kept clean the column of bubbles would actually look really nice! |

Min, I have kept Betta's alone or in a company never with shrimp, but I really don't see an issue because my betta's were not nippers an dwere always near the top of the tank and left others alone. I think it would be a chance worth taking and might be a surprise for you, and small LED lites in the tank might work or even on top mine (LED's) are really bright and spread the light out. too bad you use 220 over there and not our 110 I would send you some lights....
