Guppy
Scientific name: Poecilia reticulata
Origin: Central America and Brazil
Temperament: Peaceful community fish
Tank Mates: Other livebearers and Betas
pH: 7 to 8.5
Temperature: 70 to 82 F
Adult Size: 1.5 to 2 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 5 gallons
Maximum Life Span: 2 years
Feeding: Tropical flakes, veggies, bloodworms, algae, and brine shrimp.

General: They should have at least 5 gallons, and prefer plants. Plants will also help the fry survive. These fish are simple to care for and breed.

Sexing: Males can be sexed by their long gonopodium. Females do not have a gonopodium. Females will have bigger bellies then the males.

Breeding Information: Guppies should be kept in groups of 1 male for every 2 females. To breed just put the male in with the females and wait. Guppies can have as many as 100 fry in one birth. The fry should be separated from the adults immediately or they will be eaten.
