The term "Dither Fish" refers to a small group of fish used to encourage a larger fish to be less shy, come out of hiding, and swim about in the open.
When the larger, more timid fish sees a school of smaller fish (for example, Danios) swimming freely about, it will assume there is no danger from other (even larger), predator fish than itself. |
