Well thanks for the nom...Wt and rich for the second.

So I called the store in Toronto and they told e because I opend the boxes and tried the tubes out they would not take them back. But of course if I want to order a pair of Actinc they would be glad to ship them to me.......well let me think about that one for a second...no thanks......
I'll use these pinkish ones till they are old and need to be repalced, but that gives me time to buy them when I am in a proper fish store.
Thnaks for the input much appriciated and nice to see the wide range of opinions.

The tank looks great. I don't know much about lighting but that does look great, and youcan definitely see the difference in brightness. Great shots, and i don't think there is any lighting that would take away from those great looking fish you have there.

The tank looks lovely Ratty, I can see why they wouldn't change them if you already used them but as it was their mistake they could have at least offered a partial refund for the sake of goodwill.

Well I had sent an e mail to the store and tried to explain to them that to see what I got mI had to open the main box, and that they had wrapped all 4 tubes in their little boxes into one big bundle so that had to be cut open and then I had the tubes in their individual boxes so I opened ona nd tried itso what is the big deal......

So 0803 this morning my day off, and after being up late last night I get a phone call.....the store responding to my e mail......they were still hung up on me that I opened the main box and should have just sent it back to them.....they said I should have looked at the packing slip first and that would have told me it was the wrong tubes........

Packing slip was in amoung the tube boxes any way........so told them not to worry, I would re order and send them cash money this time to make it easier to screw me...the guy thanked me and hung up........

So I spnet the next 10 mins e mailing my contact list of local fish keepers to stay away from this fly by night store.........

Road trip to Barrie or Toronto to personally buy my lights next time......

Nice looking tank.

Ratman's post brings up a topic that I deal with all the time: how does an online dealer add the kind of value required to encourage the customer to deal online rather than visit a local supplier.

Obviously courtesy and understanding are the most important, but what other value-added services would the forum members like to have from online suppliers?

That's a really good question, Glug . . . . smile.gif

For me, it would be to have LOTS more details about the products they sell on their websites . . . LOTS more photos and more explanations . . . etc.

I'm actually quite reluctant to buy things on-line, unless I know for sure exactly which items I want, even down to the part numbers . . . rolleyes.gif

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but . . . IMHO, nothing will ever beat a face-to-face meeting with a human being who knows what he or she is talking about and to be able to see, touch, and examine various pieces of fishkeeping hardware.

All best,
Joe

And . . .

Continuing along in my struggle to plan and set up my new tank, I also find that all the really GREAT and latest equipment you hear about only seems to be found in "TFH magazine", or on the Internet . . but not (unfortunately) in a LFS . . . dry.gif

What's a guy supposed to do? unsure.gif

I know exactly what I want in a new fish system . . . BUT . . . should I take a chance and buy something sight unseen? Or should I buy only what I can see, feel, touch, and ask questions about in a face-to-face encounter in a LFS?

What a choice! rolleyes.gif

Reason I say all this is that I've actually been quite busy seeking out new equipment in all my LFS's . . . "Petsmart", "Petco", "WalMart", and another local store. All their stuff seems cheap and flimsy and "made in China" . . . mad.gif

All best,

I've bought most of my Eheims online Joe, worked out cheaper, and with their reputation I didn't think I was taking a gamble with them. I guess it really depends on what you are after, and, what sort of reputation the online retailer you want to use has built up.

Yes, curvi . . . again, it's wonderful to order from an Internet provider only if you know exactly what item you want!

But when you are still exploring possibilties and/or trying something completely new, it is daunting to blindly order something online. dry.gif

I am searching for a really large LFS in the Delaware Valley so I can literally see some of the newest items firsthand . . . and I think that my subscription to "TFH magazine" may give me some leads! thumbup.gif
