About 28 years ago, I may have purchased only a copy or two of this publication at my LFS, but . . . recently (in anticipation of my new tank
My original thinking was to see and browse what's new in fishkeeping hardware (filters, etc.) so I could keep up with with own personal plans . . . . I just got my first issue (August 2010) and I really must say I'm very impressed with this magazine! It has a little bit of everything for everyone! The pics are excellent. There are articles for freshwater and saltwater keepers, ranging from complete beginners to more advanced hobbyists! The format is exceptional . . . nice glossy pages, easy to flip through, some well-known writers, etc. I was surprised to see so little actual advertising . . . (compared to my model railroading magazine for example) . . . but it was still good and will keep me informed as to what's new, etc. What I would also like to say here, is that, here on Cheers to all . . . and I'm glad I finally subscribed to this publication. All best, Joe |

OK, well seriously . . . both curviceps and RatMan have posted some truly excellent pics!
(And if I have forgotten to PM either of them, then let me hereby publicly apologize for my transgressions! And furthermore, as I continue to flip back and forth through my first issue, I must admit that there really IS a bit more advertising than I had originally thought, but it is certainly not excessive. This magazine is indeed quite well done, and I look forward to my next issue. All best, Joe |

Well, I just got the September issue!
I feel foolish for not having subscribed to this magazine much, much earlier than I finally did . . . Really great articles. I liked the photos and the discussion of the Takashi Amano styled tanks! . . . He has always been a hero of mine, and I never quite could get my Planted Tank to look like any of his! A young author (Jason Baliban) just started a series on setting up an "Amano" style tank. I really like the clean look of the tank setup, use of "frameless" tanks and pendant lighting system. I'm looking forward to part 2 of his series. But I'd better be careful in reading all this stuff . . . It'll give me so much to think about, that I'll never make up my mind about what to set up for my new tank! I have to try and stay focused on my goals: simplicity, ease of maintenance, and choosing really graceful fish who won't kill each other! All best, and still busily planning his tank, Joe |

Just got the October issue . . . and it's not even September yet!
I sat up late last night flipping back and forth through it Once again, really great articles, and I'm following along with Jason Baliban's new Amano style tank. Although I'm not planning a "real" Planted Tank this time around, I did pick up some good tips in that department. Another article that stuck out in my mind was the suggestion of keeping a large school of Corys that were all the same species, rather than a random collection of several different ones. I always thought that it didn't matter too much because Corys enjoyed each other's company regardless. So I will plan on a large school of perhaps the "Bronze" cats, instead of a mix of Bronze, Pandas, etc. as I had done before. I just can't say enough about this great publication, and it's really helping me expand my horizons. All best, Joe |

Well, in the final (4th) part of his Amano tank setup in the December 2010 issue, Jason gives some tips about photographing his tank.
Interesting idea using a hair dryer to create ripples on the surface! I really love this magazine All best, Joe |

That price was through Australian Magazine Subscriptions - cheapest Australian site I could find.
But I did go onto the TFH website and saw the amazing aquascapes Neon Man was talking about! Very nice. |

Thanks Andy, I just checked and it's $53 a year for outside the USA. (My one-year subscription cost me $31.99) $245.00 a year sounds like a huge mistake, Miss Jo! All best, Joe |
